Minor Pentatonic Scale (Box #3)
The position of this scale is the fret number where most of the notes taken by the 1st finger lie. You reach the lower note on the 3rd string by stretching below the fret, or out of position.

The "Spread" Rhythm
The spread rhythm involves using only two notes of the chords. Either of the two root movements patterns can be used.
Practice
- Minor pentatonic scale (box #3), stretch the 1st finger below the fret to reach 5 step on 3d string.
- Minor pentatonic scale (box #1 followed by box #2 and vice versa).
- Spread rhythm using two patterns of root movements.
